Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) is a cancer treatment center in Seattle, Washington. It was established in 1998 by Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle Children's and UW Medicine. SCCA's outpatient clinic first opened in January 2001 and is located at 1354 Aloha Street, Seattle.

Overview

Seattle Cancer Care Alliance includes 300 oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists and other clinicians who treated about 7,000 cancer patients in 2014. Cancers treated at SCCA include leukemia, lymphoma, breast, prostate, lung, and colon cancers, among others. The organization has been named the Top Five Best Cancer Hospitals in the U.S. by U.S. News & World Report for 2015-2016.

SCCA services include medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, supportive care and survivorship programs for patients. SCCA also operates the Fred Hutch Bone Marrow Transplant Program.

Fred Appelbaum, MD, is SCCA's executive director and president. Norm Hubbard is the executive vice president. As a non-profit corporation, SCCA is governed by an 18-member board of directors. The founding partners of SCCA, Fred Hutch, Seattle Children's and UW Medicine, each appoint six directors and at least four of the six are community members.

Seattle Cancer Care Alliance is a member of or holds accreditation with the American College of Radiology, American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics, College of American Pathologists, Commission on Cancer, Foundation for Accreditation of Cellular Therapy and The Joint Commission.

Along with Fred Hutch and the University of Washington Cancer Consortium, which joins Fred Hutch with SCCA, UW Medicine and Seattle Children's, SCCA is Comprehensive Cancer Center designated by the National Cancer Institute. SCCA is also a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network.

Locations

SCCA operates at the following locations:

South Lake Union: The main outpatient clinic provides medical oncology and hematology, radiation oncology and medical imaging services for adults. Children undergoing bone marrow transplantation can also be seen at this clinic.

Seattle Children's: SCCA provides medical oncology, hematology and surgical oncology services and inpatient care for children here.

UW Medical Center: This location provides surgical oncology and radiation oncology services and inpatient care for adults. The SCCA Prostate Oncology Center is also located here.

EvergreenHealth: Located in Kirkland, Washington, this clinic provides outpatient medical oncology and hematology services for adults at Halvorson Cancer Center.

SCCA Proton Therapy Center: Opened on UW Medicine's Northwest Hospital & Medical Center campus in 2013. It is one of 15 proton therapy centers in the country.

Network Members

In addition to the SCCA locations in the Greater Seattle area, SCCA has Network Members in other parts of Washington state and out of state. The SCCA Network provides community-based physicians throughout the Pacific Northwest with access to resources including clinical research studies and consulting with SCCA physicians. There are currently Network Members in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.
